As another fellow guildleader, I'd say I'd agree with the first guest invite free deal. Over the past week or so, we've had a few people guest with us to test out whether or not we'd be a good fit for each other. Since we are primarily a GvG based guild, we roll them into a position they're confortable playing, get them on vent, and go play.

Another thing we do was previously mentioned as well, is a sort of interview process. We talk to the potential recruit via PM, give them the info for our site, have them look around there, then get them on vent. At this point, it's up to the officer who is talking to that recruit to sell them on our guild. We are as up front as possible with what our goals are, and we also try to get feedback from them as to what they expect from a guild. If both sides mesh, we will either send the invite, or allow them to guest with us. We don't spam recruiting messages in outposts as it doesn't generate the players we are looking for.

Having a recruitment thread on several sites as well as our own personal website helps a lot as well, as it gets your guild name out there for people to see, and if people are checking forums such as on guru, chances are they'll participate on your guilds website as well. We require all members to register with our forums also since most of us have RL activities, and can't devote 24 hours a day to GW (except me, who got fired recently ) so we are on the forums chatting about this and that daily.

Bottom line, encourage activities, and get to know the person beforehand. If you take the time to get to know a little about them and them to know a little about you, it will go a long way in keeping them around in your guild.

I had this same problem where members I recruit left immediatly or soon after the invite was sent. I also know how annoying this is and each time you have to waste 100 gold pieces. What I have found that works great is to get the new members active in the guild as soon as their invited. Get them on vent or ts (most members should have one or both), introduce them to other guildies, do a dungeon with them, or even go a round of AB. Just keep them active. Just don't invite them and welcome them and never speak to them again. There part of the guild so make them feel that way. Make them feel comfortable as well. Hope it works out for you!

They should make guild bank where officers/GL use that money for invites hall etc. but when you leave you must pay 100 gold back.
